Welcome to the official website of Hands Up For Sekondi-Takoradi. This is a non-profit and charitable organization registered in Ontario, Canada.
This organization is formed by Ghanaians in Ontario who are descendents of or have a special interest in the development of the metropolis of the twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi, its suburbs, people, and most paramount, its children.
The purpose of setting up this website is to create a forum where all those who have an interest in or share the goals and aspirations of Hands Up For Sekondi-Takoradi could come, for information or post information that relate to the activities of the organization and its members.
We believe in giving a HAND UP rather than to give a HAND OUT. This statement reflects an old Ghanaian adage that says DZI DZI DAA DAA YIE SEN DZI DZI PREKO. It pays more to help people develop and provide for themselves than to encourage them to depend on you.
To achieve this noble goal, we believe, is to help in educating children and also in the provision of good health care facilities.
Consequently, the main purpose of Hands Up For Sekondi-Takoradi is to mobilize resources - monetary and in-kind through various sources and activities. Every year a project is decided upon by members and the resources that are mobilized are applied to it. The target group of the projects are school children and their schools, public hospitals and clinics, and libraries.
We welcome you to the website. We hope you will learn enough about what we are doing, to join us, to contribute or even mention or introduce, us to people or other organizations you think may be able to help us.
